Three Cups Of Tea

The uplifting, astonishing tale of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian struggle to utilize education to battle terrorism in the Taliban’s backyard.

Anyone who give up of the human power to transform lives has to read the narrative of Greg Mortenson, a destitute mountaineer who, succeeding a 1993 climb of Pakistan’s treacherous K2, was motivated by a chance experience with poverty stricken mountain villagers and pledged to construct them a school. Over the next decade writer construct fifty-five schools—especially for girls—that provides a balanced education in one of the most dangerous and isolated regions on planet. As it chronicles authors quest, which has brought him into fight with both uncomprehending Americans and enraged Islamists, Three Cups of Tea blends adventure with a welcoming of the humanitarian spirit.

This was an brilliant novel to read and you didn’t want it to end. You used to own it, not certain who has it but Hope they pass it along. Through authors description of experiences you get to identify a more about another culture, determination and hardships.

Author, Mortenson is a unorthodox do-gooder who pledge himself to building schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan in order to educate the beggar world(especially the girls) who are so often lost in the rustic mountains of these isolated zones. There were lots of stuff you liked about this novel. First off, you love reading adventure tales about far-away regions, and learn more about the diversity of cultures in Islamic Pakistan and various other -places was sufficient to pull you all the way through the book. You also like reading about single-minded magical people with insane missions who stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Thirdly, you like the idea of battling the war on fear and terror through education instead of fighting – it seems like it will be more effective long-term and way less expensive, not to mention as it not violent.

The writer, greg is kind of obsessed and crazy, he has trouble with assigning jobs to individuals and handling cash, Mortenson unapologetically spends weeks and months away from his family people in Montana. Writer seems to be harming his health in order to continue with his cause. You were impressed by the way author absorbed to the Islamic tradition – learning to pray to Allah, learning the languages, and even dressing the part. Mortenson didn’t seem into pushing Western ideas onto the villages, beyond plain wants to equalize and educate.
