If you want to post again on Instagram, you will find that it is not as easy as on other social networks. Unlike re-posting on Twitter or sharing on Facebook, you cannot simply click to resubmit as Instagram has no reposting function. There are ways to do it, but there are a few things to keep in mind. This article will take you through a resume, as well as things to look out for. Why would you want to resubmit someone else’s content? However, reposting is a great way to move your feed, as well as remove the pressure on you to come up with a real post. And it is a good way to show appreciation for the work of your peers. But it is important to remember that from a legal standpoint, re-posting other people’s content is gray, and you need to have the appropriate permissions before you can do so. Incorporating other people’s content into your Instagram feed is a common and effective feature of any Instagram marketing strategy.
User-generated content (UGC) is often used by brands to showcase their customers and potential, and if you’re wondering where to find it, check out how to listen and watch on Instagram.
But to bring the content of others to your feed, you need to know how to re-post to Instagram – also known as gram.

Do I need permission to repost on Instagram?
According to Instagram’s Community Guidelines, “The best way to help ensure that the content you post on Instagram does not violate copyright is by posting only the content you created.”However, Instagram also states, “You can also use someone else’s content on Instagram if you get permission (for example, license), or if your use is linked to a proper use or alternative to copyright.”The guidelines then became unclear. “It’s usually a good idea to get permission before posting content, and get that permission in writing.”
How much-written permission may be sought is not specified. And without proper guidelines, it seems to be the most effective solution to simply ask for a poster in a comment or DM. For example, “Hello, I love this post. Would it be okay if I posted again?” Also, keep in mind that the person posting the content may not own it.
If you receive permission to resubmit, you must ensure that you post the photo credit. Simply tagging someone in a post is not enough.
How to re-post to Instagram
So you have permission and are ready to resubmit, but how do you do it? When you type an Instagram repost in the App Store you get many different versions of the same thing. Some of them are better to use than others, and we have had problems in the past with re-submitting apps periodically in the blink of an eye. Our current favorite iOS is Repost + for Instagram, and for Android, we love Repost for Instagram.
Copy the link to the post on Instagram
How to Re-Post to Instagram:
Select ‘Copy link’ to the photo or video you want to resubmit
How does the process work, though? All these apps work the same way. You start on Instagram, where you click on the three dots at the top of the post you want to share, then select ‘Copy link’ or ‘copy URL’. You should get a little message saying ‘link copied to clipboard.
Open the Instagram application
How to Re-Post to Instagram:
Re-posting apps are all slightly different but include the interface variant shown here.
Then open the Instagram resume application of your choice, where the saved posts should appear. You will then be able to choose where the adjective mark goes (top left, bottom right, etc.), or sometimes delete it.
You will also be given the option to copy the original captions. Rewrite: Instagram does this automatically. It is a good practice to copy the original captions, as it is another way to add credit to the original poster.
How to Re-Post to Instagram:
You can add your captions in addition to the original captions.
Then go back to Instagram – the app should make this straight – where you can decide to post again in your feed or as an Instagram Story. If you want to repost it as a Story you can’t copy over captions, see our Instagram News Guide on How to Use News.
Once you have selected how to repost, you can also make any adjustments to the image, i.e. apply a different filter – though it does not encourage you to edit other people’s work.
If you want to use original captions, click ‘Paste’ and it will copy again (in some applications you can choose to copy automatically to the re-submitted application). The caption attached above will contain the name of the re-sent application and the Instagram handle of the recipient.
You can then choose to add your caption over the original captions. If you are struggling to do this it may be because the original captions were already within the limit of Instagram characters (2,200 characters). Don’t forget to check that photo credit is included, and you should be ready to go.
Other Instagram resend options
Or, you may choose to take a screenshot and send it to your account, but since this does not indicate any type of tag to indicate that your post has been resubmitted, we do not recommend this.
Social media managers like Buffer also include redirect features, though you will have to pay.
What is a regram?
A regram is when you share an Instagram post to another account in your feed. It’s a way to redirect content similar to the Twitter feature of Retweet, but while Retweets can be done with a single button, reordering a typical feed post takes a few more steps.
As a quick but important step aside before editing an Instagram post: make sure you follow the best practices for user-generated content, including getting permission from the original poster and avoiding too much altering the original image.
Can I rearrange without leaving Instagram?
For post feeds, Instagram does not have a repost or regram button. The rise of Instagram news has provided ways for news stories to share posts in that particular format, which we’ll review below.
When it comes to re-posting standard feed content, the lack of a one-click feature does not prevent users from finding creative ways to rearrange.
Instagram sharing options
As you can see above, sharing on other networks like Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, or messaging apps like Slack is easy, but it is not possible to rearrange without the help of another app or program.
When it comes to publishing directly to Instagram through the app, it is important to note that it is provided with business accounts and official Instagram partners. Be aware of applications that are not part of the official system but that still provide the service.
So to complete the actual program, you will need to use one of the following methods or try a reliable third-party app.
How to redo it on Instagram
How to manually resize by the screenshot
The screenshot is one of the easiest ways to rearrange, although it takes a few manual steps:
- Find the post you want to edit.
- Take a screenshot on your phone.
- Trim the screenshot below the image, removing unnecessary items such as another app or status bar for your phone.
- Create a new Instagram post with a new photo, and as usual, be sure to add credit properly and seek permission to post again.
Note: this method is limited to modifying your phone model. If you have an older model, your image may reflect a blur with someone using a new model.
How to Post Again on Instagram Stories
Now you know how to redo your Instagram feed, but what about the news? When it comes to your News strategy, redistributing interesting posts that are not at all visually appealing, or highlighting someone else’s story that says you are a great way to complement your content calendar and increase engagement.
Fortunately, editing News is no easier than post feeds — here’s how to re-post it with the news.
Regram from Instagram feed to Instagram Story
It’s easy to re-post feeds to your story. Remember that if you are sharing a private account and you have a public one, you will only be able to share posts to DMs and not your story. If you are not sure if the account is private, a warning will appear if you try to reshare it.
feed on the story
- Find the post you want to share.
- Click the flight-sharing icon.
- Tap Add Post to Story. The Instagram story will appear in edit mode with the post image embedded in the center. When you tap a post, it will change the format and provide the first few words from the captions.
- Add what you like to the Story and press Your Story to post it.
- When someone sees your Story, they can click on the embedded object and take it directly to the actual post.
