Background
Our nation is endowed with diverse and rich natural, cultural and historic resources. It is a palette of various traditions, religions, cultures, home of different forms of art and handicrafts, literature and music, architectural styles etc. However, it is yet to discover the full capacity of such resources to its complete advantages.
The Ministry of Urban Development, Gov. of India, establish the (HRIDAY) yojana, with a concentration on holistic development of heritage cities. The yojana aims to revitalise and preserve the soul of the heritage city to highlight the city’s unique character by enhancing aesthetically secured, informative, accessible and appealing environment.
Issues in maintenance of heritage sites

To undertake planned and strategic development of heritage cities directed at development in overall quality of life with specific concentration on tourism, heritage revitalization, sanitation, livelihoods and security employing the city’s cultural identity.
